The Cooperative Dream: In-school testing keeps everyone’s head in the game
April 21 2022

In this video, we celebrate the teams and communities across the country who show up for each other in so many ways, including by getting tested regularly for COVID-19.
We have the privilege to work with communities across the country who go the extra mile every day to help support each other through the COVID-19 pandemic. The poem below, written collaboratively by Ursula Rucker and Concentric’s Jamila Gordon and Joseph Fridman, was inspired by these incredible communities—like the one in Chester, Pennsylvania, where the video above was filmed. We are immensely grateful to our partners in the Chester Upland School District and Chester High School for allowing us to tell their stories.
The Cooperative Dream
Teamwork… “A group effort by players who unite to get it done” Now, think… Connection. like the perfect layup or alley-oop Teamwork… makes the cooperative dream work… when we ALL work… TOGETHER… Honoring: respecting: celebrating… ALL OF US… who we are where we are (right here, on indigenous land) HOW we are our well-being… individually: collectively… as A TEAM… a family… a community! Through foul-outs, time-outs, fun times, tough days, victories… absences, presences… real challenges, real efforts… REAL LIFE. When we foul out, we turn to our team. That’s mutual aid rite there. WE cheer for/with EACH OTHER WE remind US… to keep rising forward We protect our team. ‘Cause showing up for each other matters. Helping each other…matters. So let’s show up for each other Both on the court AND off the court.
